A new study commissioned by the EU Commission shows that electric vehicles could be almost CO2-free by 2050 – taking into account the entire life cycle from production to use and recycling. To achieve this, the electricity, including for vehicle production, must come from renewables and the EU must push ahead with the recycling of batteries.
