In a surprise move, the German government appears to have scrapped its target of establishing one million charging points by 2030, at least internally. News agencies quote insiders familiar with the matter, revealing that the goal is no longer being actively pursued within the government.

The newly-elected German federal coalition government has presented its coalition agreement. This is titled “Mehr Fortschritt Wagen” and can be translated to something like “dare to innovate” or “dare to make progress.” This, of course, has a number of ramifications for the transport industry.

The German government has passed the proposed law for the promotion of electromobility and the amendment of further tax regulations. Among other things, this concerns the taxation of electric company cars and the tax exemption for charging cars free of charge at the workplace.
