NEV registrations continue to rise in China over May
Sales of electric cars and plug-in hybrids in China increased again in May. Around 717,000 of the so-called New Energy Vehicles (NEV) were sold, according to data published by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

According to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), sales of New Energy Vehicles (NEV) in China stood at 653,000 units last month. This represents a year-on-year increase of 34.8 per cent and a 24.4 per cent increase compared to February.

Around 525,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) were sold in China in February 2023, 55.9 per cent more than in the same month last year and 28.7 per cent more than in January 2023. BYD accounted for the largest number of vehicles – both NEVs and pure battery-electric cars.

Nio to release an ET5 station wagon in Europe
The Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio is preparing to introduce a station wagon version of its ET5 sedan and wants to offer it in Europe as well. Nio plants own battery plant in China
EV maker Nio is looking to build its first battery plant for round cells. News agency Reuters first broke the story, citing two people familiar with the project. The plant will have an annual capacity of 40 GWh and will be located next to Nio’s main manufacturing hub in Hefei City, China.

Deutsche Bahn brings autonomous vehicles into public transport

CATL could lower battery prices
According to Chinese media, CATL could significantly reduce battery prices for select automakers. But only under certain conditions. Nio introduces purchase options in Europe, ET5 launches at €49,900
Nio now offers rental as well as purchase options for its electric models in Europe. This applies with immediate effect to the Nio models ET5, ET7 and EL7 in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. The purchase prices for the ET5 in Germany start at 49,900 euros – but without the battery.
