V2G electric bus project takes off in London

A large vehicle-to-grid project with electric buses has now been launched at a bus depot in North London. The Bus2Grid project is testing V2G systems with an initial 28 electric double-decker buses with which more than 1 MW of energy can be fed back into the grid.

London is suspending all road tolls from today to ensure that all employees in “critical professions” can move freely in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and amidst resulting tube suspensions. The city will not enforce the congestion charge and ULEZ until further notice.

The British government announces an investment of 3.4 million pounds for tests on wireless charging of electric taxis. Specifically, ten e-taxis from Nissan and LEVC are to be equipped with appropriate hardware and inductively charged in Nottingham for six months.

UK energy firm Zenobe funds 34 electric buses in London

Zenobe is collaborating with Abellio, a bus operator for Transport for London, to launch 34 electric buses in the British capital by March 2020. The firm’s own EV fund is supporting the roll-out with Zenobe owning and handling the batteries.

London: TfL orders 20 fuel cell double-decker buses

Transport for London (TfL) has ordered 20 fuel cell double-decker buses from the Northern Irish manufacturer Wrightbus. The transit operator will use the hydrogen-powered buses in the British capital starting next year on routes 245, 7 and N7.

London Mayor announced black cab EV investment

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has announced plans to invest an extra £24m to help more black cab drivers switch to electric vehicles. The plans will more than double the TfL’s existing £18m fund. Additionally, grants will be restructured to provide more payments at higher levels.

Electric double-decker buses coming to London

A whole pack of all-electric double-decker buses is coming to London. 68 of them are to arrive in summer 2019 and will electrify entire routes. They are being made by ADL, BYD and Optare and TfL says this will grow the fleet to 240 all-electric buses.

The Supercharger network is getting an upgrade – and according to a Twitter conversation, will then be able to deliver more than 350 kW. All-inclusive home charging: ChargePoint has announced a new service for home chargers, including the installation and servicing of the station. Customers will only pay a monthly fee and can choose to cancel the offer at any time. They can even purchase their energy using their ChargePoint account.
